Basketball Game Preview: Carlisle Chiefs vs. Gretna Hawks

The Carlisle Chiefs and the Gretna Hawks will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Gretna is hoping to do what Norfolk Academy couldn't on Friday: put an end to Carlisle's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Carlisle simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Norfolk Academy 62-33. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gretna). They skirted past Orange County 59-56. While the Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Carlisle is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Gretna, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
