Pine lost against Morningside Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pine Knights fell just short of the Morningside Academy Eagles by a score of 34-31. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Pine still got an impressive performance from Emily Shirk, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 67.7% of Pine's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anna Shirk, who put up two points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Pine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Morningside Academy found their leader in sophomore Arianah Wallace, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards set a new season-high mark for Wallace. Emmilina Miller was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Pine's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Morningside Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Pine has already played their next matchup, a 43-34 victory against Jupiter Christian on the 24th. As for Morningside Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-14 win against Melbourne Central Catholic on the 24th.
