Villa Park came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Sonora by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since March 1st.

Meanwhile, El Dorado didn't have quite enough to beat La Habra on Tuesday and fell 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Hawks in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost four in a row.

Emily Yoon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amy Cornelius was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Cherms, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

El Dorado's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Villa Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Villa Park couldn't quite get it done against El Dorado in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can Villa Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
