Basketball Game Preview: Winlock Cardinals vs. Adna Pirates

Winlock is 1-9 against Adna since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Winlock Cardinals will welcome the Adna Pirates at 6:00 p.m.

Winlock is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 56-18 loss at the hands of Toledo. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Indians are ranked 137th).

Meanwhile, Adna waltzed into their match on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Vikings, posting a 57-21 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Adna pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Winlock, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Winlock was dealt a bruising 67-13 loss at the hands of Adna when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Winlock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
