Softball Recap: Marathon Takes a Loss

Marathon couldn't beat St. Brendan on Wednesday even though they stacked ten runs on them in the first inning. The Dolphins lost 20-10 to the Sabres. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabres this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-7 back in March.

Maeve Merryman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Kayla Skaarup was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Marathon's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for St. Brendan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Coming up, Marathon will host Ransom Everglades at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for St. Brendan, they will take on Pembroke Pines Charter in a tournament on Thursday.
