Football Recap: Sparks Takes a Loss

Sparks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the South Tahoe Vikings and fell 49-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Railroaders came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 58th in Nevada, while the Vikings are ranked 474th in California).

Sparks' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for South Tahoe, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparks will take on Elko at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 8.5 points per game this season, so the Railroaders' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Tahoe, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Spring Creek at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
