Softball Recap: Clio Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Clio never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the Reese Rockets 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Clio got a massive performance out of Layla Hutchinson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Hutchinson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Malin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Clio lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reese didn't launched any home runs.

Clio has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Reese, their loss dropped their record down to 18-13.

Clio has already played their next game, a 4-1 victory against Yale on the 24th. As for Reese, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-4 defeat against Standish-Sterling on the 24th.
