Baseball Game Preview: Sam Houston Texans vs. Bowie Volunteers

Sam Houston hasn't had much luck against Bowie recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sam Houston Texans will be playing at home against the Bowie Volunteers at 7:00 p.m.

Sam Houston is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They lost 11-0 to South Grand Prairie.

Meanwhile, Bowie was able to grind out a solid win over Grand Prairie on Friday, taking the game 13-8. The Volunteers haven't had any issues with the Gophers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brody Ferguson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Ferguson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Jaxon Turner was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Christian Uribe was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bowie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Prairie only managed eight hits.

Bowie's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Sam Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Sam Houston skirted past Bowie 1-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Sam Houston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bowie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
