Recap: Winnebago Indians vs. Pender Pendragons

After flying high against the Walthill Blujays last Friday, the Winnebago Indians came back down to earth. Winnebago took a serious blow against Pender on Tuesday, falling 65-29. Winnebago lost against Pender in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 77-35 score last time.

Winnebago's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tressa BigBear, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds. BigBear scored a full 34.5% of Winnebago's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Charlize Frenchman, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds.

Winnebago's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Pender, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Winnebago will head out on the road to face off against Omaha Nation at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pender, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lutheran-Northeast at 6:00 p.m. Lutheran-Northeast comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
