            Softball Recap: Byron Tigers vs. Genoa-Kingston Cogs        
        
		
        
        
            It's playoff time, and Byron had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Genoa-Kingston Cogs by a score of  8-5  on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Cogs  two weeks ago, they had to take a  3-0  defeat.
 Myla Draheim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
 At the plate,  Caleigh Rybicki and  Victoria Martinez did most of the damage at the plate:  Rybicki  went 3-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI, while  Martinez  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  Rybicki has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of  Larkin Knoll, who  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Byron  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 15  hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  hit total in three consecutive  games.

Byron's victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-16. As for Genoa-Kingston, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-21-1 record  this season.
