Baseball Recap: Calhoun Sandcrabs vs. Needville Bluejays

Calhoun had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 15-17-3 to make it six. They lost 13-3 to the Needville Bluejays. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Thursday.

Calhoun saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Amerson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

As for Needville, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.

On Needville's side, Kase Vacek made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Vacek a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jaydon Ortiz was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Lincoln Wyatt was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

As of now, neither Calhoun nor Needville have any future games scheduled.
