Basketball Game Preview: Clarksdale Wildcats vs. Canton Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Clarksdale's tournament run continued when they took on Pontotoc on Friday. Clarksdale took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pontotoc. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Canton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 66-46 margin over the Indians.

Canton pushed their record up to 17-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for Clarksdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Clarksdale might still be hurting after the 58-37 loss they got from Canton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Clarksdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
