Baseball Recap: Abbeville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Abbeville brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Midland Rebels on Monday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 18-2 win the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Braylon Himel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Abbeville is 2-1 when Himel allowsthree or fewer hits, but 1-6 otherwise. Himel was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Dugas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Deylon Joseph, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Abbeville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Abbeville moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Midland, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.
