Basketball Game Preview: Goshen RedHawks vs. NorthWood Panthers

The Goshen RedHawks will challenge the NorthWood Panthers at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. NorthWood took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Goshen, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Goshen turned things around against Jimtown on Tuesday. They walked away with a 28-19 win over the Jimmies.

NorthWood has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northridge on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Raiders are ranked 14th).

Goshen will have to contain Claire Payne as she made an impact in NorthWood's last game. She dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Payne is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Brooke Johnson, who posted two points.

NorthWood's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Goshen, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13.

Things could have been worse for Goshen, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-40 loss to NorthWood when the teams last played back in January of 2024.
