Baseball Recap: Columbia Takes a Loss

After flying high against Emmett last Friday, Columbia came back down to earth. The Wildcats took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nampa Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Aidan Chatterton and Marcus DeLeon stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chatterton scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while DeLeon scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Parker Harrison was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Columbia has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Nampa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Columbia will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Emmett at 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Nampa, they will venture away from home to face off against Boise at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Brave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.24 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
