Baseball Recap: Shadow Mountain Wins Going Away Against Moon Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paradise Honors, Shadow Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Moon Valley Rockets with a sharp 15-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Matadors needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Jacob Alden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. Shadow Mountain is 2-1 when Alden posts three or more RBI, but 7-11-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Shadow Mountain let Gavin Lieske and Andy Chaplick run wild. Lieske went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Chaplick went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lieske is becoming a predictor of Shadow Mountain's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-12-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jack Zauner, who went 2-for-3 with four runs.

Shadow Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 9-12-1. As for Moon Valley, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
