DeSoto Central came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Byhalia Indians with points to spare, taking the game 75-59. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Indians are ranked 191st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

DeSoto Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Byhalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

DeSoto Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-61 win against Memphis Home Education Association on the 14th. Byhalia will take on New Albany in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Albany knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Byhalia likes a good challenge.
