Western had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over the Cypress Bay Lightning. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Lightning are ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
