Recap: Centennial Rams vs. Antonito Trojans
The Centennial Rams scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Antonito for the full four quarters, racking up a 83-38 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Centennial has managed all season.
Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devon Vigil led the charge by scoring 19 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Vigil posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Jacquez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists.
Antonito lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Octavian Martinez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Jasiah Jiron was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Centennial pushed their record up to 4-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Antonito, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lake City Community at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Antonito won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Moffat at 6:30 p.m. on January 20th. Moffat knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Antonito likes a good challenge.
