Basketball Recap: Connor Mewhinney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lincoln Prep over Valley Lutheran + How To Watch

Lincoln Prep lost against Valley Lutheran back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lightning fell 50-44 to the Flames.

Several Lightning players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Connor Mewhinney, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Cash Luce was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than John McLaughlin, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. What's more, McLaughlin also posted a 63% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Sayegh, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Lincoln Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Valley Lutheran, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Lincoln Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Cruz Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026. Valley Lutheran and San Manuel will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
