Basketball Recap: Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Lions

The Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 18 on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 55-32 margin over Dayspring Christian Academy. Roanoke Valley Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Roanoke Valley Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Nelson out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Gutierrez, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Roanoke Valley Christian pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Roanoke Valley Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Timberlake Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the EAGLES are ranked 152nd). As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
