Evangel Christian and Bessemer Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Lightning will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Evangel Christian will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Evangel Christian got the win against Tuscaloosa Home Educators by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Lightning, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

ZAC GROSSMANN and TREY HOPE did most of the damage at the plate: GROSSMANN scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while HOPE scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave GROSSMANN a new career-high in doubles (three). CALEB CRANFORD was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Evangel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tuscaloosa Home Educators only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Bessemer Academy fell victim to Edgewood Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Rebels were not able to get on the board.
Evangel Christian's victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Bessemer Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Bessemer Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Evangel Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for Bessemer Academy, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Evangel Christian's hitters?
