Softball Recap: Eureka Takes a Loss

If Eureka was feeling good fresh off their 21-4 takedown of Tonopah last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vandals came up short against the Carlin Railroaders on Tuesday, falling 16-7. The loss continues a trend for the Vandals in their meetings with the Railroaders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Brooklyn Edmo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Cloninger, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Eureka's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Carlin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eureka will square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carlin, they will challenge Mineral County at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Serpents have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.44 runs per game on average), something the Railroaders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
