Baseball Recap: Junction City Victorious

Junction City proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Cascade Christian Challengers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since May 7, 2024.

Junction City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madix Waldrop, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that Waldrop snagged this season. Another was Josh Berry, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Junction City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade Christian, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Junction City and Cascade Christian will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers will face off against rival Marshfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cascade Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe North Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
