KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches and MaxPreps announced Thursday the 10 athletes that have been named United Soccer Coaches/MaxPreps High School State Players of the Week for their on-pitch efforts from Jan. 25-31.
Results and statistics provided by MaxPreps.com are used to help recognize one boy and one girl from each participating state competing during the winter season.
Coaches wanting to nominate players must submit statistics to MaxPreps in order for their athletes to be considered. Winners receive a MaxPreps/United Soccer Coaches branded letterman's patch and recognition on both MaxPreps and UnitedSoccerCoaches.org.
Nominations are due each Sunday by 11:59 p.m. ET to be considered. Here are this week's winners:
Arizona
Boys
Scored seven goals and added an assist in a 16-0 win over Eastmark.
Girls
Five goals and three assists in an 8-2 win over Lincoln Prep on Jan. 28.
Florida
Boys
Seven goals and two assists in a pair of wins last week.
Girls
Had four goals and two assists Jan. 25 in an 8-0 win over Williston. Added two more goals and an assist in a pair of other outings last week.
Louisiana
Boys
In goal for four wins in four days, recorded three clean sheets and made six saves.
Girls
Scored four goals and added an assist in a 9-1 win over Sterlington.
Mississippi
Boys
Scored four goals in a 5-3 win over Sumrall.
Girls
Played 107 minutes in goal in a 1-0 win over Long Beach, making eight saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Texas
Boys
Scored five goals and added three assists in a pair of wins last week.
Girls:
Piled up five goals and four assists in a 10-2 win over Parkland. Also scored in a 3-2 loss to Hanks.
