Basketball Game Preview: Tanque Verde Hawks vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

The Tanque Verde Hawks and the Mountain View Mountain Lions will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Tanque Verde knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Mountain View likes a good challenge.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hawks on Friday. Tanque Verde blew past Rio Rico 87-66. Tanque Verde hasn't had any issues with Rio Rico recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Mountain View narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Canyon del Oro 43-41.

Mountain View had a senior duo take command as Cesar Feria shot 67% from the field en route to 15 points along with five boards and four steals and Daniel Anumba dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. Levi Reidhead was another key player, putting up three points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon del Oro only posted five.

Tanque Verde now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mountain View, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Tanque Verde might still be hurting after the 70-46 defeat they got from Mountain View in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
