Basketball Recap: Brevig Mission Takes a Loss

Brevig Mission played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Shishmaref Northern Lights and fell 98-36. The Huskies have struggled against the Northern Lights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Shishmaref was led to victory by Fred Olanna and Corben Nayokpuk. Olanna almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds, while Nayokpuk went 8 for 13 en route to 19 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Hadley, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Brevig Mission's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Shishmaref, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Brevig Mission will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against James C Isabell at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Shishmaref does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
