Football Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Extends Winning Streak to Three + How To Watch

Cardinal Gibbons waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Middle Creek Mustangs as they made off with a 40-14 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Crusaders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Mustangs are ranked 42nd).

Cardinal Gibbons had a senior duo take command as Connor McGeehan picked up 163 receiving yards and three scores and Conner Lindsey threw for 214 yards and three TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes. Those 163 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for McGeehan. Cardinal Gibbons also got a significant boost from Noah Terry, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Cardinal Gibbons proved: they limited Middle Creek to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Skylar Alston for the heroic effort on defense: he. The dominant display was nothing new: Cardinal Gibbons has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive contests.
