Basketball Recap: Laurel Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Laurel couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Canton Tigers by a score of 42-40 on Tuesday. The contest marked the Golden Tornadoes' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Laurel's defeat dropped their record down to 31-2. As for Canton, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 27-5.

Laurel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canton, they will square off against Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pontotoc will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Canton surely won't give up without a fight.
