Basketball Recap: Sanger Triumphs

The third road matchup was the charm for Sanger, as they earned their first away win of the season. They came out on top against the California City Ravens by a score of 71-58 on Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why California City lost, don't look at Cassius 'Hollywood' Brown. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-16 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds. The game was Brown's third in a row with at least 19 points. DeShawn 'Pocket Magic' Elizalde was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 12 points.

The victory got Sanger back to even at 5-5. As for California City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Sanger and California City should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Apaches will face off against West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (332 vs. 921). Meanwhile, California City (ranked 285th) will meet Rosamond (ranked 640th) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
