1. Cathedral Catholic (San Diego)Head coach: Will Cunningham
2015-16 record: 21-7
The Dons return one of the top players in the section in 7-foot power forward
Brandon McCoy, who averaged 21.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game last season. He's ranked the No. 8 senior in the country, according to 247Sports. He has 11 college offers, including Arizona, Michigan State, Oregon and Cal.

2. Kearny (San Diego)Head coach: Foad Ahwazi
2015-16 record: 31-4
The Komets lost three of their top four scorers, but return No. 1 scorer
Robby Robinson, a 6-8 forward who averaged 15.4 points and 10.7 rebounds per game last season. Kearny averaged 61.1 points per game and shot 45 percent from the field. It lost five players to graduation.

2015-16 record: 29-7

El Camino and Kearny battled for a section title last season and each is a contender again this season.

The Wildcats lost five seniors from last year's 11-man roster but El Camino appears primed for another big season with the return of three top juniors, including 6-6 center
Jonathon Sealey. El Camino has gone 49-13 the last two seasons under Tarantino and won at least 24 games the four previous seasons.

2015-16 record: 28-6
The Torreys won a section crown last season following a 66-61 win over La Jolla. LJCD returns one of the state's top sophomores in
Ryan Langborg, a 6-3 guard who averaged 14.1 points as a freshman.
Josiah Esselstrom, a 5-10 senior guard, was the team's third-leading scorer last year at 10.0 per game.

5. St. Augustine (San Diego)Head coach: Mike Haupt
2015-16 record: 24-8
The Saints return 6-8 wing
Taeshon Cherry and 6-2 wing
Ike Hall from last year's squad. St. Augustine has won at least 23 games under Haupt over the last six seasons.
