Basketball Game Preview: South Mountain Jaguars vs. Kofa Kings

The South Mountain Jaguars will square off against the Kofa Kings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

South Mountain is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 67 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Cesar Chavez on Friday. They took a blow against the Champions, falling 66-25. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Champions recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

The losing side was boosted by Bry'Ann Wiley, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Breanna Walters was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Kofa suffered their closest defeat since December 12, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Lake Havasu by a score of 39-36. The Kings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kofa's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for South Mountain, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-10.

Everything went South Mountain's way against Kofa in their previous meeting back in December of 2015, as South Mountain made off with a 52-31 victory. In that game, South Mountain amassed a halftime lead of 27-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
