Holston won the last time they faced Eastern Montgomery and things went their way on Friday too. The Cavaliers blew past the Mustangs 49-18. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cavaliers had established a 29-point advantage.

Holston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Tweed led the charge by rushing for 205 yards and four scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Those 205 rushing yards gave Tweed a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmond Mickens, who rushed for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Holston was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 389 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern Montgomery only rushed for 56 rushing yards.

Eastern Montgomery's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Bierman, who threw for 123 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 56 yards.

Holston has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holston will take on Narrows at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Montgomery, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Rural Retreat at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
