Basketball Recap: Odem Comes Up Short

Odem has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the McMullen County Cowboys.

Despite the loss, Odem saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hayden Copeland dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Copeland now owns an excellent 54.5% field goal percentage. Adrian Ramirez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Odem's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for McMullen County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Odem didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 92-43 loss against Aransas Pass on the 2nd. As for McMullen County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-40 victory against Lasara on the 3rd.
