Preview: Limon Badgers vs. Cedaredge Bruins
The Limon Badgers will be playing at home against the Cedaredge Bruins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Limon has 22 straight wins, Cedaredge has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Limon can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Y 48-6 on the road. Given Limon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Y is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan Rockwell was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes. Another player making a difference was Lohgan Bottjer, who gained 111 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Cedaredge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-20 loss to Buena Vista on Friday.
The losing side was boosted by Luke Maxey, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 210 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Tullis, who gained 100 total yards and a touchdown.
Limon's victory was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.89 points. As for Cedaredge, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Limon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 288.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cedaredge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.3 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
