Basketball Recap: Waukegan Comes Up Short

Waukegan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mundelein Mustangs. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Waukegan's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alliaya Cade, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 16 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Cade is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Waukegan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mundelein, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Waukegan is set to take on their familiar foe Zion-Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mundelein will square off against rival Lake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
