Softball Game Preview: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Springfield Township Spartans

The Abington Galloping Ghosts will take on the Springfield Township Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Abington has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 25.

On Thursday, Abington didn't have quite enough to beat Pennridge and fell 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Galloping Ghosts have lost by exactly two runs.

Sam Wenhold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Abington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Z. Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was Kelly's first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield Township). They walked away with a 16-11 victory over Nazareth Academy on Wednesday.

Abington's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Springfield Township, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Everything went Abington's way against Springfield Township in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Abington made off with a 10-2 victory. Do the Galloping Ghosts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
