The Livingston Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Mariposa County Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Livingston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Livingston will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Ripon on Friday. Livingston blew past Ripon 16-6. The Wolves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Mariah Blaine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Olivia Costa was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Tatiana Muniz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one triple.
Livingston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ripon only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Mariposa County came up short against Hilmar on Tuesday, falling 16-6. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.
Alexa Morrow made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those hits were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Hutchings, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
The win got Livingston back to even at 2-2. As for Mariposa County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Mariposa County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Livingston has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Mariposa County, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Livingston's sizable advantage in that area, Mariposa County will need to find a way to close that gap.
Livingston beat Mariposa County 6-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Livingston since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
