Volleyball Recap: Raton Tigers vs. Questa Wildcats
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Raton had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Questa Wildcats. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.
The win didn't come easy: Questa scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 25-19.
Raton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October.
Questa lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jocelyne Ortega, who had 30 digs and three kills. With that strong performance, Ortega is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Rael, who had 25 digs, three kills, and ten assists.
Raton's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Questa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-4.
Raton has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Lordsburg on the 15th. Questa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
