Softball Recap: Pleasant Hill Victorious

While Pleasant Hill's win against Liberty wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Eagles on Monday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Ava Wombles made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Pleasant Hill's record now sits at 11-5. As for Liberty, they moved to 17-5 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Coming up, Pleasant Hill will square off against Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Liberty, they will take on Griggsville-Perry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
