Basketball Game Preview: Ponder Lions vs. Whitesboro Bearcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Ponder Lions take on the Whitesboro Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday... The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Ponder has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Whitesboro will arrive with four straight victories.

Ponder saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came up short against City View, falling 73-51.

Meanwhile, Whitesboro was able to grind out a solid win over Bells on Monday, taking the game 56-48. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Panthers are ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitesboro has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Ponder, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Everything came up roses for Ponder against Whitesboro when the teams last played back in February, as the squad secured a 53-24 victory. Does Ponder have another victory up their sleeve, or will Whitesboro turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
