Brookeland dropped their record down to 21-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Fayetteville Lions by a score of 1-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

As for Fayetteville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Fayetteville's part, not much got past Jack Schley, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Brookeland off the board. Schley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

While Brookeland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
