Baseball Game Preview: Unionville Longhorns vs. Phoenixville Phantoms

The Unionville Longhorns will challenge the Phoenixville Phantoms at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Phoenixville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Unionville, who comes in off a win.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Unionville and Oxford had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Longhorns walked away with an 8-4 win over the Hornets on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Longhorns as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Nick Rassias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jake Wilson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Bonsall, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Phoenixville came up short against Methacton on Friday and fell 6-1. The Phantoms have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Phoenixville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Kingsbury, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Unionville's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Phoenixville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
