Football Recap: Coalinga's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Coalinga got themselves on the board against Sanger West on Friday, but Sanger West never followed suit. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 7-0. Given the Horned Toads' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Hornets are ranked 782nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tyson Alvarado had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 150 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Those 150 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Coalinga has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 points this season. As for Sanger West, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coalinga will square off against Templeton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sanger West, they will challenge Fowler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
