The Westview Wolverines will take on the Hilltop Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Westview sitting on four straight victories and Hilltop on six.
Last Friday, Westview didn't have too much trouble with Fallbrook as they won 50-32. With that win, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 27.6 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Guimond, who threw for 445 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 81.5% of his passes. Those seven passing touchdowns gave Guimond a new career-high. Westview's leading receiver Kyler Brown was Guimond's top target yet again, picking up 220 receiving yards and three TDs.
Westview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Charles Jaskowiak and Miles Miranda. Jaskowiak also made nine total tackles, which is notable because Westview is 5-2 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Hilltop rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Stingrays 28-7. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Leo Mendoza and Lajuan Johnson. Mendoza rushed for 128 yards and three scores while Johnson rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown. Mendoza's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 128 rushing yards.
Hilltop was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Westview's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Hilltop, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Westview was able to grind out a solid victory over Hilltop in their previous matchup back in September, winning 32-21. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mendoza, who rushed for 133 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 26 yards and one touchdown. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Wolverines still be able to contain Mendoza? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
