Basketball Game Preview: Maumee Panthers vs. Eastwood Eagles

Maumee hasn't had much luck against Eastwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Maumee Panthers will challenge the Eastwood Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Maumee lost to Otsego at home by a 66-49 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while the Knights are ranked 180th).

Meanwhile, Eastwood ended up a good deal behind Liberty-Benton on Saturday and lost 57-40.

Eastwood has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Maumee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Maumee came up short against Eastwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 48-37. Can Maumee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
