Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bellows Falls

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bellows Falls ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Burr & Burton Bulldogs. Winning may never get old, but the Terriers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brielle Mulverhill spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grace Hayes was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Jaelyn Fletcher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Bellows Falls' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Burr & Burton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bellows Falls will venture away from home to square off against West Rutland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Burr & Burton, they will head out to face off against Otter Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Otters have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
