Softball Recap: Cromwell Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Cromwell entered their tilt with East Hampton on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Bellringers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-4 back in April.

Ell Wren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addy Jupe, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Keira Beyer, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cromwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Cromwell's record now sits at 7-5. As for East Hampton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Cromwell will be playing in front of their home fans against Haddam-Killingworth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Hampton, they will head out on the road to face off against Morgan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hukies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.71 runs per game on average), something the Bellringers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
