Softball Game Preview: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Porter Ridge Pirates

Sun Valley hasn't had much luck against Porter Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Sun Valley fell victim to Marvin Ridge and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 20-0 to the Mavericks. The Spartans' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Porter Ridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Cuthbertson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 12-10. Even if the Pirates couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Porter Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Sun Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
