Basketball Recap: Whittier Piles Up the Points Against Temecula Prep

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Whittier had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Temecula Prep Patriots 80-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cardinals have posted since December 6, 2024.

Whittier had a senior duo take command as Christopher Heape posted ten points along with seven steals and six assists and Brandon Romo put up 17 points and seven boards. Romo's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Noor Moustafa, who scored ten points and five rebounds.

Whittier has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points over those games. As for Temecula Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 22-8.

Looking ahead, Whittier will square off against Ramona at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ramona's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 19 games. Temecula Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
